Skateboard Bearings, what are they? Bearings are the round pieces that fit inside a wheel to mount it on the axle. All bearings are the same size, so you can focus on getting the best ones for your budget. There are metal and ceramic bearings of different qualities. Most bearings also are labeled according to the ABEC scale you can use to get an idea of what effect they will have on your board. The right bearings keep your skateboard moving and even let you ride with more speed.

Select an ABEC 1 bearing for inexpensive but durable beginner bearings.  Switch to ABEC 3 bearings for inexpensive, entry-level bearings.  Use ABEC 5 bearings for both speed and affordability.  Get ABEC 7 bearings if you’re looking for fast, high-quality bearings.  And lastly, pick ABEC 9 bearings to maximize your speed.
